5 Reasons to Build your Website on a Content Management System (CMS)

Before we get started on the reasons you should build your website on a CMS, we’ll make things a bit more clear by describing what exactly a CMS is. Here is a quick definition from Wikipedia:

“A content management system (CMS) is a computer program that allows publishing, editing and modifying content as well as maintenance from a central interface. Such systems of content management provide procedures to manage workflow in a collaborative environment.” – To put it shortly, a software that allows you to update your website.

    1.     Easily update your content.

You have control over your content, yahoo!! By using a CMS you do not have to worry about coding in HTML or being super tech savvy. A lot of CMS’s will have a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) tool bar, so if you have used Microsoft Word before then you won’t have a problem and your CMS should be just as simple.

    2.     Keep your brand under one platform

Many companies will have their website and their blog developed on two different platforms, but many CMS’s out there will actually allow you to build your blog within. This way you don’t have to worry about 2 different logins, simply one step to access your online brand!
Side note: it also allows your users to stay within your online brand on the front end – they’re not being pushed to a different website and you reap the benefits of better SEO by having original content under your URL.

    3.     Store your information in one spot

Many CMS’s allow you to upload content into the backend - you can store PDF’s, images and even webpages that you may only need once a year. You are able to keep all this information in one place and gain access to it as long as the internet is available.

    4.     Control your SEO

Companies are often changing their SEO strategy and thankfully with a capable CMS you can control this by adding metadata which includes keywords, title descriptions, and page descriptions. And since a CMS gives you control over your content you can add your keywords throughout your website simply and efficiently.

    5.     Different Privilege Levels

A CMS is built to provide different privilege levels, this is a great benefit because you don’t have to worry about an employee or someone else breaking your website. You can set the type of access each person has, which in turn secures your website as you now know who has access to your website and what they can do.
